Musée de l'Elysée!!

the Musée de l'Elysée, a museum in Switzerland for photography has an exhibition going on right now called We Are All Photographers Now! where anyone can upload their photos and participate. i uploaded 2 photos earlier this month and i got an email today saying:

Dear Photographer,

Your images were shown in the Musee de l'Elysee's exhibit ‘We are all photographers now!’ in the last few days.

wahoo! and they sent me these photos of my pictures as they were displayed.

it's crazy to think that you could see my photos in a photography museum in Switzerland. what a great way to start the week.

i might be going to check yo ponytail tomorrow night. do a little dancing. xoxo

i'm holding my head on a string like a balloon

i'm sick and i think my eyes are going to pop out of my head. oh what a feeling.
at least its friday and i can just lay around and do NOTHING. i'm wearing myself out.

last weekend was enough fun to last me until next week. i have no plans to do anything this weekend. i want to keep it that way. (i think)

last saturday sandi and i went to go see Factory Girl before heading to downtown LA for Blow Up. oh Edie Sedgwick. i wish someone had taken care of her instead of feeding off of her energy and using her to make themselves feel better. everyone in that movie was great. we saw a preview for Across the Universe which looks amazing. i liked how after every beatle song sandi would look at me with awe in her eyes.

we high tailed it to downtown where we parked and got ready. gas station stops for mixers and cigarettes are a way of life. i love walking down a street and hearing the clicking of my heals on the pavement. we had no idea where the shuttle to take us to the party was at but by destiny or whatever, we were led to Julia and Nick (being some of the coolest kids i've met in awhile) and we eventually figured it out. a shuttle ride where sandi swore to everyone on the shuttle that "this shuttle ride changed my life" and 5 seconds later we were at the party, and we couldn't help but call it the factory. at least a second cousin of it. i mean you had your eccentric types, you had the ones that put the party together, the ones to document, the one who feed everyones vices. the place was surrounded with the fog of death. no good for taking photos. von iva is hot, and feeling good for a few hours is so worth feeling not so good for a few the next day.

so this is my first BlowUp and i have to admit i had a good time. except at the end of the night when i found myself standing next to "dirty dave" one of the guys who puts on the party and i was hoping to say something like, hey great party blah blah blah, and instead i felt stupid when he told me my friend was drunk. my friend being julia who met 4 hours ago and was now taking care of because god knows there were enough people to take advantage of her. so anyway, i felt stupid. i doubt he remembers and there just might be a chance at a better impression. what the fuck? this was stupid. longest drive home ever.

the next day i spent with my favorite girls.

i took them out to eat and then to a movie. i always feel so amazing with them.

i hate being sick.

it's like christmas!

i love signing for packages.

my boss asked me this week if i wanted to attend some photography trade show and at first i had said yes. then i found out that my Holga would be coming via UPS today, the day of the trade show. so i changed my yes to "maybe next time" so that i could be here to receive my little camera. it's like christmas.

first i opened the package. removed the holga lomo box and hugged it (am a big geek about new toys, i love them and usually name them i.e. my ipod's name is chiquirrita). opened the holga box and took out the holga which, out of the box, is equal to to air in weight. then i had to load it and tape it. i didn't know you had to tape it to avoid light leaks and at first i thought "what a fucking hassle!" but after i got to taping and making sure no light could hit my 120 film, i didn't mind it. i'm such a perfectionist and made sure it was nice and neat. i'm also officially in love with vinyl electrical tape.

it's all set to go. i'm gonna have a picture frenzy this weekend. wahoooo!

let it ride easy down the road

just as fast as it was friday, its now the end of the weekend. when's
the next three day weekend?

so i bought this plastic 35mm camera at the thrift store for 7 dollars.
i just finished my first roll of film using and i'm really excited to
see how the photos come out. i'm a little afraid of light leaks, but
we'll see. jesus this shit is boring. i also bought an holga from
lomography.com, i think i get it next week. i've just been on this kick
about trying different cameras and formats. mostly because i think that
the amount of money you spent on a camera shouldn't determine how good
the picture will come out. art is created from nothing, and at the same
time, to stay true to arts infinite rebellion roots, it is nothing. not
until it makes you feel, then its something, something tangible.

omg that was weird.

superbowl what? is it world cup time again?
